Our Sunflower Festival is a special day to celebrate our beautiful sunflower fields.

Our sunflowers are harvested in the fall to use for bird seed, however, they are a sight to behold while they are blooming.  Oilseed sunflowers are not like ornamental sunflower varieties that bloom for 3 weeks or more.  Oilseed sunflowers bloom and begin to turn their heads to start drying their seed after only about 12 days.  This means that we have a limited window to enjoy them in.  This window is when we hold our Sunflower Festival; when they are the most beautiful.  Even if you can't make it to the festival on Saturday, we will remain open every day from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. for the remainder of the bloom (approximately August 2nd - August 7th - please check our Facebook page prior to coming out). Admission for Non-festival days are $3 / person. 3 & under is free.  Feel free to bring in a picnic on the NON-FESTIVAL days.

From the joy these fields of sunflowers bring, came the desire to give back to our community.  We partnered with the Rio High School FFA because they are an organization we feel strongly about.  We are fifth generation farmers, who fully support the future of agriculture.  The pairing couldn't be more perfect.  We donate the profits that the farm takes in over the entire Sunflower Festival.  We know this would not have been possible without all of you that come to enjoy the sunflowers with us.

We are changing things up a bit this year due to Covid-19!

Visitors will park in the grass parking lot South of the animal display, then walk up to the Back 40 playground where the food, music & crafters will be located.  Beyond that are the sunflower fields!

  • We will have many hand washing stations set up around the farm
  • Plan on walking quite a bit because we are reserving the hayride wagons only for those who are unable to walk very far (our elderly & disabled folks).
  • Picnic tables will be disinfected regularly, but feel free to bring your own picnic blankets or folding chairs to sit on.
  • Please maintain social distancing.
  • Masks are not required by appreciated.

Please check back frequently for updates.  We can't wait to see you in August!

Disclaimer: if at any point our parking lot becomes full or the farm reaches maximum capacity of visitors, a message of closing will be posted on our website home page and our facebook page.  please find alternative activities and return to the farm when a message of reopening has been posted.  Parking along Mountford Road is strictly forbidden.

Pets are not allowed. Registered service animals are permitted.  Thank you.
